PRESERVATION AND TRANSMISSION
OF THE CULTURE

The Loden cultural program aims to preserve and pass on Bhutan's rich cultural heritage to future generations. The program focuses on the documentation and study of written and oral traditions.

This program has placed the Foundation at the forefront in terms of documentation and study of cultural heritage. The program currently has three parts : written heritage, oral traditions, arts and architecture.

 Why preserving Bhutanese culture?

  • To transmit its rich cultural heritage to future generations and beyond borders.

  • Bhutan's oral traditions are rapidly disappearing as globalization reaches the more remote valleys.

  • Today the country has many monasteries and temples whose archives represent a literary treasure that is still intact and unexplored.

  • Loden-Shejun's cultural program focuses on documenting and studying these oral and written traditions.
